Wild Rivers!

Did you know that The Grand River here in NE Ohio is designated by the US Wild & Scenic Rivers Act as a "Wild River"? While there are some mild class I & class II rapids along the Grand River, it isn't referring to the whitewater. The Grand Wild and Scenic River represents one of the finest examples of a natural stream to be found anywhere in Ohio. Due to its rugged topography, the Grand River has not until recently felt the influences of urbanization.

Apart from an occasional bridge (like the Harpersfield Covered Bridge), it is actually not easy to get to the river--a float down the river takes you through unbroken wilderness that is wonderfully refreshing. Tubes, Canoes and Kayaks all make for a great way to see the wilderness. You can read more about it at: watercraft.ohiodnr.gov/grandsr
